FGV hosts Scientific Initiation Program
Fundação Getulio Vargas will host the 2016/2017 Scientific Initiation Seminar for FGV’s Schools in Rio de Janeiro on August 22-24, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The event will be held at FGV’s main office, in Rio de Janeiro, featuring research projects developed by scholarship students from the Scientific Initiation Program (PIBIC).
The Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program is an initiative of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CNPq) created to support the Scientific Initiation policy of Education and Research Institutions, granting Scientific Initiation scholarships to undergraduate students involved in scientific research.
The CNPq supports FGV’s PIBIC based on the following goals: promote scientific vocation; encourage new talents among undergraduate students; promote scientific education for human resources across all professional activities; enhance articulation between undergraduate and graduate studies; contribute to developing human resources for research; encourage productive researchers to involve undergraduate students in scientific, technological and artistic/cultural activities; allow scholarship students to learn research techniques and methods, guided by qualified researchers, and promote scientific thinking and creativity by directly addressing research issues; and expanding students’ access and integration to scientific culture.
This partnership with CNPq has yielded excellent results. Scholarship students Marina Bichara Faria Coelho (FGV’s School of Social Sciences – CPDOC) and Eliana Lins Morandi (FGV’s São Paulo School of Business Administration – EAESP) received the CNPq Technological and Scientific Initiation Distinction Award during the 2014 and 2016 editions, respectively.
