Former Brazilian Minister of Environment attends United Nations event in Sao Paulo
The Center for Sustainability Studies (GVces) of FGV’s Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (EAESP) will host the United Nations Turnaround event (Virada das Nações Unidas) on October 20 and 21, in Sao Paulo, featuring former Brazilian Minister of Environment, Izabella Teixeira, who handled COP-21 negotiations on behalf of Brazil, and the Resident Coordinator of UN in Brazil, Niky Fabiancic.
The event will simulate an international negotiation in order for participants to truly experience the environment of multilateral forums for sustainable development. The debate will focus on three current challenges, listed under UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: climate, gender equality and economic growth. In short, each participant will take on a role – among federal governments, companies, civil society and subnational governments – and must interact with others in a simulation featuring the puzzling complexity of UN conferences and multilateral negotiations.
The event also includes an opening lecture by former Minister Izabella Teixeira; plenary session by UN representative, Niky Fabiancic; and the superintendent of Sustainability of Itaú Unibanco and president of the Global Compact Network in Brazil, Denise Hills. The event will also promote negotiation sessions among participants, led by professors and researchers of FGVces, specialized in the topics discussed.
The United Nations Turnaround event is one of the disciplines of EAESP’s Professional Master’s in Management for Competitiveness, open to the general public.
