International Congress anticipates trends in financial and capital market
FGV’s Sao Paulo School of Economics (EESP) attended the 8th International Congress of Financial and Capital Markets, held from August 24-26, in Campos do Jordao, Sao Paulo. Hosted by B3 (financial market infrastructure company), the event is a benchmark in the industry for anticipating trends and bringing together market experts and scholars to discuss controversial and fundamental issues for the development of the country and its markets.
The event awarded the coordinator of EESP’s Master’s courses, Professor Rogério Mori, and the alum of the Professional Master’s in Economics and PhD candidate, José Monteiro, as the “Best paper of the technical publication B3 Review”, with the work titled ‘Term Structure of Interest Rates: Macroeconomic Determinants — Application of the Svensson Model in Brazil”
The conference was also attended by Daniel Kahneman (Nobel Laureate in Economics), Deltan Dallagnol (Federal Prosecutor), Ronaldo Caiado (Senator), Henrique Meirelles (Minister of Finance), Gustavo Franco (Chief Strategist of Rio Bravo Investimentos), Lord Mervyn King (former President of the Bank of England), Luigi Zingales (professor at University of Chicago Booth School of Business), and Reinaldo Le Grazie (Director of Monetary Policy of the Central Bank of Brazil), among other personalities of the financial area.
The guests discussed topics such as global macroeconomics; microeconomics; capitalism and development; international geopolitical tension; financial risks and the future of international regulation; and Brazilian regulation. The event also included a panel on Operation Car Wash and Brazilian economists.
