Unprecedented research on technological and industrial development is presented in London

During his lecture, the FGV professor announced the results of recent unprecedented research on alternative technological and industrial development trajectories in developing economies.

Paulo N. Figueiredo, professor at FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), attended the international conference “Exploring technology upgrading in emerging and transition economies” as a guest lecturer. The event was held at University College London (UCL) between June 27 and 30.

During his lecture, the professor announced the results of recent unprecedented research on alternative technological and industrial development trajectories in developing economies. The study was conducted under EBAPE’s Research Program on Technological Learning and Industrial Innovation in Brazil, created and coordinated by professor Figueiredo since 1999.

The presentation sparked interest among participants, especially due to the study’s novelties in terms of the nature of evidence, methodology and recommendations for public policy. The study’s results are available in the following video:
