FGV’s Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP) will host the event “Big Data in Politics: Measuring Noise, Signs and Storms” on June 21, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This event will bring together experts in Data Science and Political Sciences. These experts will discuss not only the remarkable progress in analytical technologies, potential benefits and upcoming trends, but also the inevitable risks and challenges for an increasingly connected society, which will be fully impacted by the Age of Algorithms.

The most important decisions of our lives – in their individual, business, economic and political areas – are increasingly mediated by algorithms. Amidst this highly disruptive and fluid context, society will have to deal with new challenges, such as information leaks and theft; hacker attacks; dissemination of fake news; artificial intelligence applications across several different sectors; intense automation of intellectual activities – which had been untouched by the digital revolution so far –; and the intrusive potential of numerous emerging technologies, among other critical aspects.

The debate will be attended by experts from IBM, CityTech, Stilingue, and UNIT34 SocialData, as well as professors from EAESP, FGV Executive Education, and UFBA.
