FGV调解仲裁院成立于巴西仲裁研究院根据第9307/96号法律改制之后，其主要职能是管理和监督仲裁程序，确保落实法律规定的所有阶段和期限。
该院的另一个重要职能是进行调解工作。调节与仲裁不同，旨在促使纠纷双方在第三方的协调之下达成协议。调解阶段可以在仲裁之前进行，如果协议被当事双方接受，则无需进入仲裁。
仲裁院由FGV的主席主持，拥有两名主管和一支常任仲裁员团队。常任仲裁员由FGV法学、经济学和管理学领域各学院的教授组成，均为法律界的知名律师和专业人士，在土木工程、外贸、电信、石油和天然气等多个领域训练有素、经验丰富。
