Institute for Technological Development is accredited by Brazilian Ministry of Education with top marks

Last week, the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) announced the accreditation of FGV’s Institute for Technological Development (IDT). The new unit, focused on the dissemination of knowledge produced and generated by FGV nationwide, received the top mark (5) from the judging commission of the Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (Inep).

“Major contemporary issues require complex and applied knowledge, as well as an interface between different fields of knowledge. That’s why the IDT is more than necessary, having been established at the right moment to promote applied research in inter- and trans-disciplinary ways”, said Professor Antonio Freitas, FGV’s Dean of Teaching, Research and Graduate Studies.

The IDT’s ambitious mission will be to disseminate and apply knowledge and technology to think and act ethically for Brazil’s development. The proposal is to train skilled professionals at an undergraduate level, based on FGV’s institutional mission of fostering national socioeconomic development.

“The accreditation of the IDT by the MEC is the first step in our challenge to expand the student base in FGV’s undergraduate technology courses, bringing the excellence know-how that we’ve developed across the country and helping train young people for the current and future needs of the job market”, said professor Flavio Carvalho de Vasconcelos, Dean of FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE).
