A study on the trajectories of economic growth and development in Sub-Saharan Africa has just been published on the Harvard Africa Policy Journal, one of the most prestigious academic publications addressing public policies in the African continent. The paper, written by Arthur A. Catraio, PhD Candidate from FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), is titled “Differential Growth in Sub-Saharan Africa: New Perspectives Regarding Dani Rodrik's Growth Strategies”.

The paper speaks directly to the sustainable economic growth theory of Dani Rodrik, an Economics professor at Harvard. Based on recent empirical data, Arthur Catraio’s paper suggests new nuances in the analysis of changes in the economic growth of countries across modern-day Sub-Saharan Africa.

“Evidence shows that countries such as Botswana, Cape Verde and Mauritius had, in recent decades, sustainable economic growth above the average growth of the group of OECD countries. Therefore, there is still much to be learned from the economic growth experiences and policies of the countries in Sub-Saharan Africa”, said the researcher.
