New course connects entrepreneur students to potential investors

FGV IDE – Executive Education has just launched the Digital Business Course, coordinated by professor Antonio André Neto. The idea is to bring together professionals and executives with an entrepreneurial profile around the same project. During the evaluation stages, students will be divided into groups and work on innovative projects across four digital business areas: mobile, web, internet of things (IoT) and wearables (e.g. heart monitors).

According to the professor, what makes this course unique is the fact that it employs the Blended teaching methodology. “Through the Blended method, students have all of the tools they need to accurately simulate the entire process surrounding a business startup”.

Students are encouraged to compete and recruit the most knowledgeable among their classmates to develop the projects together. The team must research, interact with peers, develop product prototypes, structure business operations, present and defend their viewpoints in workshops, just like in the actual business environment. “All of the students will post videos on YouTube recording their project’s status”, he said.

The course will feature on-site classes with online support.  The course lasts for four months and all classes will be held in workshop format, simulating each step of a project development process. “The first workshop, when students will be divided into teams, is crucial to showcase the importance of building the right team in order to be successful”.

Along each step of the way, teams will present their projects and only one of them will be selected. The winning projects in each area (Web, Mobile, IoT and Wearables) will present their work on the last day of the course. The final presentation will be made to a group of potential investors.
