City Hub Project presented at event about public policy innovation

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Department of Public Policy Analysis (FGV DAPP) will participate in an event titled “Functional Cities: Society as a Vector of Change,” organized by FGV’s Laboratory for Innovation in Public Policy and Rio de Janeiro Catholic University’s Public Policy League. The talks will take place on October 29, 30 and 31, at Rio de Janeiro Catholic University, FGV and Fábrica de Startups, respectively.

The goal of the meeting is to promote greater interaction between specialists and professionals with knowledge and experience of innovation in public policy, as well as members of civil society who are interested in this area.

As part of this event, Beatriz Meirelles, a researcher at FGV DAPP, will present the City Hub Innovation Project on October 30, in FGV’s main building (Praia de Botafogo, 190, Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro). One of the objectives of this project, developed for Brazil’s Regional Development Ministry, was to understand how the innovation ecosystem in cities works and how its different actors interact.

Meirelles will explain this work in one of the event’s “lightning talks” – a series of short presentations about innovative proposals. The event will also feature debates by researchers about the major challenges faced by Rio de Janeiro and other cities in various public policy areas and about innovative ideas to solve them.

The event seeks to present innovations that will have an impact on people’s lives and understand cities’ problems, based on new public policymaking methods. FGV DAPP shares this objective in its studies and solutions focused on public policies to contribute to public sector decision making, and so it supports the event’s overall idea.
