The Civil Construction Index (INCC-M), calculated by the FGV´s Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV IBRE), rose 0.26% in January 2020, up from a 0.14% increase in December. The Materials, Equipment and Services component went up 0.45% in January, following a 0.01% decline in December. The Labor component increased 0.09% in January, after rising 0.26% the previous month.

Within the Materials, Equipment and Services group, the Materials and Equipment item went up 0.47% in January, compared to -0.04% in December. The rates of change accelerated for all subgroups, especially Structural Materials, which went from -0.27% to 0.29%.

The Services component figure went from 0.11% in December to 0.37% in January. Within this group, there was a notable result for the Transport Vouchers item, which went from 0.00% to 0.87%. The figure for Labor went up 0.09% in January, compared to 0.26% the month before.

The rates of variation accelerated in six state capitals: Salvador, Brasília, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre and São Paulo. On the other hand, the rate declined in Belo Horizonte.
