FGV´s Sao Paulo Law School launches third edition of Esdras Legal Teaching Awards

The FGV´s Sao Paulo Law School is now accepting applications for the third edition of the Esdras Borges Costa Legal Teaching Awards. These awards were created in 2014 to raise the profile of, expand the reach of and facilitate access to educational materials that encourage students to be proactive within the legal teaching and learning process, while incentivizing professors and education institutions to experiment, divulge and discuss concrete, participatory legal education experiences and contribute to the continual improvement of legal teaching in Brazil. Interested parties have until May 30 to enroll their projects.

In this third edition, the main prize will be R$5,000 (gross of taxes). Winning initiatives may also be included in the Participatory Legal Education Materials Bank, which shares with society examples of classes that use participatory legal education techniques.

The Esdras Awards’ panel of judges will take into account the degree of leadership shown by students in the learning process, dialogue with social players, innovation and creativity, educational planning, interfaces with other subjects, the potential to disseminate and replicate educational materials, and the suitability of materials, including technological ones, used to support the learning process.

The awards are aimed at professors who lecture on legal subjects for law courses or in other fields of knowledge in Brazil, whether undergraduate, graduate or short courses. The awards encompass any participatory education activity that makes students the main player in their own learning.
