On August 24, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Group for Research on Infrastructure and Environmental Economics will hold a webinar called “The Future of Waste in Brazil – the Lessons of the National Solid Waste Policy and New Sanitation Regulatory Framework.” The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 10 am.

Ten years after the National Solid Waste Policy was launched, there are still challenges in eliminating open-air garbage dumps in Brazil, expanding recycling and reusing waste materials. This is an opportune time to discuss this subject, as the new sanitation regulatory framework was recently introduced, providing new tools to tackle these issues.

The speakers will be Claudia Orsini (University of Sao Paulo), José Antônio Puppim (FGV), Michel Xocaira Paes (FGV) and Alexandre Citvaras (a specialist in business management). The webinar will be conducted by the coordinator of FGV’s Group for Research on Infrastructure and Environmental Economics, Professor Gesner Oliveira.
