On Thursday, October 1, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Department of Public Policy Analysis (FGV DAPP) will hold a webinar called “Algorithms, Meanings and Power in ‘The Social Dilemma.’” The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 10 am.

The webinar will explore issues addressed in the recently launched Netflix documentary, in which technology professionals warn about the devastating impact that social networks can have on society, democracies and humanity as a whole.

The speakers will be Cecília Olliveira, contributing editor of The Intercept Brasil; Vinícius Wu, who is doing a doctorate in social communication at Rio de Janeiro Catholic University; and Eurico Matos, a researcher at FGV DAPP. The moderator will be FGV DAPP researcher Tatiana Dourado.
