FGV/EPGE - the Graduate School of Economics welcomed last Friday, August 1, the 1994 Nobel Laureate in Economics, Professor John Nash, during the workshop Teoria dos Jogos? (Game Theory). The event - part of the cycle of Game Theory Society workshops - was partnered by the Institute of Applied Research (Ipea) and the Economics and Politics Research Group (EPRG).During the meeting, a tribute was made to Professor Marilda Sotomay, who has carried out pioneering studies on Game Theory in Brazil. The Minister of the Strategic Affairs Office to the Presidency, Marcelo Neri, and the president of Ipea, Sergei Suarez Dillon Soares, attended the ceremony.In addition, leading experts in the area, such as Salvador Barberà, of Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, and Steve Brams, of New York University, presented papers on the implications of strategic decision making. The event was also attended by the president of Fundação Getulio Vargas, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal; the Director of FGV/EPGE, Rubens Penha Cysne; the advisor, Lindolpho de Carvalho Dias; the former Minister of Finance, Marcílio Marques Moreira; the Consul General of Germany, Harald Klein; the Consul General of the United States, John S. Creamer; and one of the founders of the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), Maurício Peixoto.The workshop also included Abraham Neyman, of Hebrew University; Inés Macho Stadier, of Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona; and Myrna Wooders, of Vanderbit University; and David Perez Castrillo, of Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona.The meeting took place in the auditorium at Fundação Getulio Vargas' main offices, at Praia de Botafogo, 190, Rio de Janeiro.
