FGV and McDonald's University launch MBA on Strategies for Sustainable Development

On July 28, Fundação Getulio Vargas, through FGV Corporativo, launched the MBA on Strategies for Sustainable Development. The course is conducted in partnership with McDonald's University - an institution that aims to spread knowledge and disseminate the organizational culture of McDonald's to employees, franchisees, suppliers, communities and opinion makers.According to the Director of FGV Corporativo, Luiz Ernesto Migliora, it is an innovative proposal that will offer McDonald's and its stakeholders - especially those related to the supply chain - complete training from the economic, social and environmental pillars of sustainability. He pointed out that the program will go through issues such as: water and energy savings, waste management, climate change, among others. The 432-hour long MBA consists of regular classes at the premises of McDonald's University in Alphaville - São Paulo, besides online classes. Migliora noted that the Foundation is fully prepared and has the expertise to offer the course. We have a recognized center of sustainability that is serving as basis for all the material, says the director, referring to the Center for Sustainability Studies (GVces) of São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV/EAESP).The first class of MBA on Strategies for Sustainable Development is expected to begin in September this year and, according to Migilora, another class may also start in November. With two classes simultaneously underway, those who cannot attend the first class of a given subject as a matter of agenda will have the opportunity of taking it again, he explained. The FGV professor and PhD in Environmental Management and Health, Patricia Calicchio Berardi, is the academic coordinator. The course includes students from national and multinational organizations, such as Arcos Dourados (McDonald's network manager in Brazil), Unilever, Itaú and Tetra Pak. The plan is that, starting in 2015, the program will expand to other Latin American countries, and possibly to the whole world, concluded Luiz Ernesto Migliora. Please click here and get more information about FGV Corporativo.
