IBRE's Brazilian Economy magazine gets new graphic design

The Brazilian Economy magazine, developed by the Brazilian Institute of Economics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV/IBRE), has just undergone a graphical change. The objective is to adapt - graphical and editorially - the publication to the recent demands of the public and make it easier to read. The new layout brings a modern and lighter look thanks to the use of photos in larger sizes, expansion of its color palette, more graphs and tables and changes in the types and sizes of fonts, providing a better visibility to the texts. The content - renowned for its quality and credibility - will continue featuring in-depth materials on themes on the Brazilian and global economic agenda, besides the IBRE Bulletin, interviews, articles and the impact of studies by researchers from the institute and other FGV Schools and Units.Marcelo Utrine, one of the responsibles for the new design of the magazine, said that the cover went through a major change. The proposal was to make it more visual, with information only at the top, following the trend observed in several Brazilian and foreign journals. We conducted a survey on the leading publications in the market and, along with the editorial team, we analyzed what we considered right and what was not essential, he said, when he added that another major move was to expand the space for graphics and photos inside the Brazilian Economy. The work went quite smoothly; we've adjusted and repositioned some spaces. The Brazilian Economy has been undergoing changes in the last 10, 15 years and it was time for another change, he emphasized. The Executive Editor, Claudio Conceição, also pointed out that changing the looks, even if subtly, of the publication after 66 years of existence without mischaracterizing it was no easy task. Trying to keep a certain identity developed for more than six decades with the readers is the greatest challenge of any change, he said. Please click here and check more information about the publication (in English). On the IpadThe changes were also incorporated to The Brazilian Economy on the Ipad - virtual version of the magazine available since 2012 and can be downloaded at the Apple Store. Furthermore, the section of statistical indexes has been reformulated since the June edition. The data generated by IBRE's research team (price and surveys indexes, mainly) were kept and grouped for easy reference. The indicators that are no longer shown in the magazine can be accessed free of charge on FGV Data, IBRE's online database.
