In order to contribute to the discussion of legal, technical and regulatory issues in the electric power sector of the country, Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV DIREITO RIO) is offering the special course Energia Elétrica: Aspectos Jurídicos e Regulatórios do Setor? (Electric Power: Legal and Regulatory Aspects of the Sector). Coordinated by Professor Fábio Amorim, the initiative brings together renowned professionals who work or have worked in the main regulators and companies in the sector. In 2012, the Brazilian electric sector has reached the astonishing mark of 100,000 edited legal acts, including laws, decrees, ordinances, resolutions, among others, from various agencies. This myriad of norms and institutions is a huge challenge for those seeking to work in this field, especially for Law professionals. The goal is to train and provide participants with technical, legal and regulatory knowledge of the Brazilian electric sector. The course organized by Professor Fábio Amorim at FGV expresses a maturity in the electric sector in academic terms. It is a unique opportunity where professionals with extensive knowledge of the matter, who cannot only teach, but also encourage the deepening of legal study on electric power will get together, said the attorney who is a specialist with experience in the area and also a professor of the course, Guilherme Baggio. The classes will be held from September 9 to November 13, at FGV's main offices, in Rio de Janeiro's city center.
