Rio de Janeiro Law School professor debates Rights to Health in Holland

The professor at Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV DIREITO RIO), Danielle Borges, participated at the seminar Human Rights in Essential Public Services Provision at the University of Groningen, in Holland, on June 19. The workshop brought together experts in Human Rights and Right to Health of various countries.Danielle presented her work Access to Health Care, Essential Medicines and the Enforcement of Individual Rights: A Brazilian case study, which addresses the behavior of the Brazilian judiciary to ensure access to medicines, in addition to the changes generated by this action on health policies.It is important to discuss the role the judiciary must have to ensure the right to health in a country that suffers from numerous deficiencies in the public health system, such as ours, explained the professor.The seminar is part of a series of meetings with the objective of discussing human rights and the access to essential services. The next meeting is already scheduled for October, when other related topics will be discussed.
