Academic Center of São Paulo Law School holds simulated jury for high school students

The event Conversa com Advogados (Talk with Lawyers) held on June 11 by São Paulo Law School had a different format: in this edition, high school students interested in learning more about legal professions had the opportunity to watch a mock trial live, organized by students of the Academic Center. The trial was a simulation based on an authorship process of the Attorney General which claimed the exclusion of the laws of quotas in universities. According to the student of the School, Augusto Delarco - one of the organizers of the simulation - the goal was to show students taking the college entrance examination how classes are conducted at São Paulo Law School. These mock trials are common in our daily routines. What we wanted to get across was that it is possible to study law in a practical way, he said. The Criminology professor Theo Dias praised the initiative of the Academic Center. This was an idea that came from the students themselves; it was not my request. They will not earn any credits, grades or money for it. The purpose was only to show a bit of the dynamics here at the School, he said. During the event, undergraduates also talked about exchange program opportunities and international competitions. The objective of Conversa com Advogados event is to present São Paulo Law School and answer the main questions about legal education to high school students. Please click here and check out photos of the event.
