Students of the academic master of the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV/EBAPE), Bruno Cezar de Andrade and Lucas Zarconi, and the undergraduate student of Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV DIREITO RIO), Evandro Sussekind, have been selected for the Shanghai Summer School Program (BRICS Program) 2014. The initiative is sponsored by the Centre for BRICS Studies - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - at Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and the topic of this edition was Communication and Integration. The selection process included students from all FGV Schools. Once selected by their units, candidates were evaluated by representatives from each School and the International Division (FGV/DINT). The names of five students were sent to Fudan University for evaluation and three were chosen by the Chinese university to participate in the program. The program, which takes place between June 30 and July 30, 2014, will address topics that range from culture to economy of the BRICS countries. Lucas Zarconi believes the experience will be rewarding from a professional and personal point of view. It is impossible to imagine the world today without considering China and other BRICS countries together - they already total a GDP of U$ 14 trillion - and therefore, it is highly relevant to better understand their economies, societies and policies. This opportunity is also aligned with my master's degree research, for which I have been analyzing the impact of culture on leadership; one of the theories that I am addressing, coincidentally, was created in China. Finally, I was also motivated by the fact that Fudan is an excellent university and Shanghai is one of the major economic centers of the world, he explained. The International Program of Fudan University provides students and young professionals from all BRICS countries the chance to deepen their knowledge in topics related to Shanghai, China and the BRICS. The Center for BRICS Studies of Fudan University, China, is responsible for developing the course.
