Rio de Janeiro Law School represents Brazil at international forum on climate change

The event brings together government agencies, civil society, NGOs, the private sector and researchers from over 60 countries to discuss the issue of climate change in the world and partnerships to encourage the reduction of carbon emissions.

The Center for Law and the Environment (CDMA) of Rio de Janeiro Law School will represent the Brazil and Latin American civil society at the Climate Partnership Funds (CIF) Forum 2014 - which brings together government agencies, civil society, NGOs, the private sector and researchers from over 60 countries to discuss the issue of climate change in the world and partnerships to encourage the reduction of carbon emissions.CDMA is the observer of Latin America in the Forest Investment Program (FIP), one of the Climate Investment Funds administered by the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the European Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the African Development Bank.The investment plan of FIP-Brazil was prepared in 2012 and this is the third time that the CDMA will be part of this global meeting since the plan was created. It will be an opportunity to talk to other countries and entities engaged in the issue of deforestation and forest degradation, and think together possibilities of enhancing the sustainable use of forest resources and climate mitigation, explained the research assistant at the Center, Carolina Thibes.The forum will also feature special sessions of the private sector, as well as interactive discussions on technical and scientific approaches to climate change.The Climate Partnership Funds (CIF) Forum 2014 will take place in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on June 23-24.
