EMAp presents 3D-documentation technologies for cultural library collections

Addressing researches and application of 3D-documentation technologies as an alternative to preserve human tangible cultural heritage. Those are some of the issues approached today by FGV's School of Applied Mathematics (FGV/EMAp), May 29, at the lecture ?Shaping Up: 3D Documentation and Knowledge in Cultural Heritage?, with the head of the Research Group on Cultural Computing and Dean of the Doctoral College at the University of Brighton, David Arnold.The meeting will present the results and experiences of the project 3D-COFORM ? European consortium whose purpose is to establish 3D documentation as a practical, accessible and effective mechanism to preserve unique art objects. The project has the collaboration of cultural institutions like The Victoria and Albert Museum, from London; the Louvre, from France; besides the Florence Academy of Art and archaeological sites like Abu Simbal, in Egypt.The challenges of intellectual property related to the use of such technologies will also be addressed at the event, which is going to be held only in English.The lecture ?Shaping Up: 3D Documentation and Knowledge in Cultural Heritage? takes place today at 4 pm, in room 317 of the Fundação Getulio Vargas headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro.Click here and learn more.Learn about the 3D-COFORM.
