The professor of the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV/EBAPE), Carlos Pereira, was invited to participate in the symposium on Governance in Europe: Taking Stock for Moving Forward, which will be held on May 27-28 at Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany, and will discuss prospects for the region after the elections for the European Parliament and the European contributions to international politics.Carlos Pereira will participate in the panel Back to the Future? Europe and the Nation State, which will present the Brazilian experience of re-centralization of political institutions. The political and fiscal re-centralization that occurred in Brazil in the last 20 years has been a key factor to the success in reducing public deficit and balance public accounts at a subnational level. This relatively successful experience can serve as a comparative model to be followed by the European Union in response to the crisis in the euro zone, he explained. Please click here and learn more about the meeting.
