3rd edition of Cryptocurrency Datathon promotes study of blockchain and innovation

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) is holding the third edition of its Cryptocurrency Datathon to promote studies and activities involving blockchain and financial innovation, while fostering interaction between undergraduate students across Brazil. Applications are now open and teams can apply no later than October 11.
The event will begin on October 14, at 9 am, via Zoom. FGV is part of a select group of universities around the world that are partners of Ripple in the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI).
The Cryptocurrency Datathon is an online competition in which each team is challenged to work on real-world problems. The teams have nine days to come up with a solution to the challenge, which may be based on themes and data provided on the event’s opening day. A committee will examine the solutions submitted by the groups and select the winning teams.
The teams must be composed of between three and five people, all of whom must be enrolled in an undergraduate course in Brazil. No more than 20 teams will be selected to participate.
The first-placed team will receive R$8,000, while the second-placed one will receive R$5,000 and the third-placed one will be given R$2,000. The winning team members will also receive a certificate. Subject to availability, they will also be offered free places on courses about Blockchain (45 hours) and Cryptofinance (45 hours), which are part of FGV EESP’s Professional Master’s in Finance and Economics. These courses are scheduled to start in the first and third quarters of 2023, respectively.
