Inflation measured by the IGP-M decelerates, according to IBRE

For consumers, the items that influenced the most came from the Health and Personal Care group, especially medicines. Clothing and Food also recorded an increase, while the Education, Reading and Recreation, Transportation and Housing groups slowed down and offset the upward movements of other groups.

The General Price Index - Market (IGP-M) calculated by the Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV/IBRE) decelerated, changing 0.78% in April. In the same period last year, the index changed 0.15% in March and the variation was 1.67%.Among the index components, the largest contribution to the deceleration came from the Broad Producer Price Index (IPA), which changed 0.79% due to the behavior of the natural food subgroup. In the previous month, the rate was 2.20%. The Consumer Price Index (IPC) recorded, in April, a 0.82% change - the same as in the previous month - and the National Cost of Construction Index (INCC) recorded a 0.67% increase, above the 0.22% result of March.For consumers, the items that influenced the most came from the Health and Personal Care group, especially medicines. Clothing and Food also recorded an increase, while the Education, Reading and Recreation, Transportation and Housing groups slowed down and offset the upward movements of other groups, largely due to a deceleration of airline tickets.The accumulated change this year, until April, was 3.35%. In 12 months, the IGP-M has changed 7.98%.The IGP-M is calculated based on prices collected between the 21st day of the previous month and the 20th of the reference month.
