FGV seminar in Rio discusses minimum wage policy

The Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV/IBRE) and São Paulo School of Economics (FGV/EESP) will host, on May 7-9, the seminar Política de Salário Mínimo para 2015-2018: Avaliações de Impacto Econômico e Social? (Minimum Wage Policy for 2015-2018: Reviews of Economic and Social Impact) - which will gather at Fundação Getulio Vargas' main offices experts on the topic to present economic policy diagnoses and proposals for the coming years.The issue of the minimum wage in the country will be addressed at the meeting considering points of view on the labor market, income distribution, public finance, inflation and macroeconomics in sessions moderated by journalists of the newspapers O Globo, Valor Econômico, Brasil Econômico, O Estado de São Paulo e Folha de São Paulo. IBRE researchers and EESP professors will conduct the opening panel and participate in discussions alongside representatives of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Economic Studies (DIEESE), the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) and LCA Soluções Estratégicas em Economia.
