FGV becomes part of the committee of the program Rio Capital da Energia

Fundação Getulio Vargas, through FGV Energy, became part of Rio Capital da Energia - a program of the state government of Rio de Janeiro that aims to mobilize society and promote the concentration of resources around the energy sector, making Rio de Janeiro a world reference in rationalization, technological innovation and environmental sustainability in the field.FGV Energy's participation in the Strategic Committee was enacted on March 14 by Governor Sérgio Cabral and published in the Official Gazette. The functions of the body include the analysis of the national scenario of energy supply and demand and the proposal of policies that will ensure not only compliance with the state's current energy demand, but its sustainable growth.According to the document which settled the program's creation, Rio Capital da Energia takes into account the importance of Rio de Janeiro for the country's energy security. The state is the leading producer of oil, natural gas and the largest generator of thermal, gas and nuclear energy, and the headquarters for the main Brazilian and foreign energy companies.The decree also emphasizes that the oil production in Rio de Janeiro represents 85% of the national production, and the state is responsible for the production of 28 million cubic meters of natural gas per day - equivalent to 45% of the national total.
