FGV is part of the Brazilian delegation to Falkland Islands

The coordinator of the School of Social Sciences (FGV/CPDOC) in São Paulo, Oliver Stuenkel, participated in a program of the British government to Brazilian scholars in the Falkland Islands, promoted with the aim of presenting to researchers the political, economic , socio-cultural and trading situation of the archipelago.The group completed a busy agenda that included meetings with politicians of the Legislature and Executive, historians, entrepreneurs and journalists from the local media, as well as visits to the Chamber of Commerce, the Institute of Environmental Research and museums.According to Professor Stuenkel, by experiencing the many aspects of the island's everyday life allowed the elaboration of important conclusions. With the discovery of oil exploration layers in the territory of the Islands, there will be future political and economic consequences in the region, which will require greater attention from the international community, especially from Brazil while acting as a regional player, he said.The visit to the Falklands happened last week.
