Tax reform and tax on goods and services discussed at event

The Nucleus for Fiscal Studies at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo Law School is holding an event called “The Constitution and tax on goods and services: key tax reform issues.” This public event will take place on March 14, at 8:30 am, in hybrid format, in person in the Sao Paulo Law School’s auditorium and livestreamed on the school’s YouTube channel.

The objective of the event is to debate crucial aspects of tax reform proposals, focusing on the creation of a value added tax in Brazil.

In the first session, ways of overcoming the impasse between federal and local governments to approve a tax on goods and services will be discussed with academics and government representatives. The second debate will address the issue of setting a single rate for the tax on goods and services and personalized refunds, as well as sector-specific impacts of tax reform.
