The professor of Environmental Law at Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV DIREITO RIO), Rômulo Sampaio, will launch on February 12 the book Environmental Liability of Financial Institutions (original title in Portuguese ?Responsabilidade Civil Ambiental das Instituições Financeiras?) - the result of a partnership between the School and the publishing company Campus Elsevier. The work contributes to the debate about the environmental liability of financial institutions through an interdisciplinary approach, in which Rômulo analyzes important institutes of civil liability, contract law and comparative law to offer greater efficiency in finding those responsible for environmental damages. The goal of developing concrete environmental liability criteria for financial institutions based on the theory of contract law was guided by the search for a tool that could be more beneficial to environmental preservation and conservation policies, explains the professor. The launch, open to the public, takes place at Livraria Travessa, in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, at 7 pm.
