FGV is one of the best think tanks in the world for the fifth consecutive year

In this edition, FGV achieved its best performance: it went up three positions, ranked in 21st positione among the top global think tanks (including the U.S.), and it considered the best think tank in Central and South America.

Fundação Getulio Vargas is, for the fifth year in a row, among the top 30 think tanks in the world. That's what the Global Go To Think Tanks Rankings 2013 released on January 23rd, by the University of Pennsylvania, indicates. In this edition, FGV achieved its best performance: it went up three positions, ranked in 21st positione among the top global think tanks (including the U.S.), and it considered the best think tank in Central and South America.  FGV is also listed in other 18 categories, of the 47 categories this year. Therefore, FGV is present in  43% of the items evaluated, totaling 24 references. FGV was also considered one of the world's top think tanks in categories such as Social Policies and Economic Policies, and four of its public policy studies were mentioned in the top 30 of the year.  The relationship of think tanks with society was also taken into consideration in the 2013 ranking, granting FGV the first place in Brazil and Latin America in the use of the internet and social networks, and engagement with external audiences.The University of Pennsylvania ranking, published since 2006, is prepared by the International Relations department of the institution and considered almost 7,000 think tanks from 182 countries this year.Please click here to check FGV in the Global Go To Think Tanks Rankings 2013.What is a think tank?Think tanks are organizations that conduct research, engage themselves, produce and disseminate knowledge on strategic issues - often working in areas that have no space for reflection and innovation in traditional bodies such as States, trade associations, companies or universities.The role of these centers is to analyze public policies, solve dilemmas, find solutions, and promote the progress of learning and debate in society.
