EESP professor recommends reusing school supplies

The reutilization of school supplies, besides being a financially healthy attitude, is also sustainable, said the professor of São Paulo School of Economics (FGV/EESP), Samy Dana, in his column Caro Dinheiro, for the online version of the newspaper Folha de São Paulo. He explains that it is worthy checking all the excess material from last year and analyze what can be used again, like crayons. Observe the state of more durable materials such as scissors, rulers and folders is also an option. Samy even suggests reusing notebooks. In the case of spiral notebooks, you can remove the pages left from old notebooks to assemble a new one.The economist also recommends buying used materials from more advanced students at much more affordable prices. Searching at secondhand bookstores is also worthy, since discounts can reach up to 96%, he says. And for those who plan to reduce the bill in stationery stores, collective purchases are a successful example, in Samy's opinion. The idea is to gather a group of parents, talk about the list and go through stores asking for prices and bigger discounts to storekeepers. Every parent can search at a different store, for example, which makes the quotation more complete and productive for price negotiation, he explains. Please click here and check out Samy Dana's column on Folha de São Paulo (in Portuguese).
