FGV/EESP and Estadão hold 4th course on economic journalism

During three months, participants will attend full-time activities, lectures by EESP professors and participate in the group newsrooms. Monitored by Grupo Estado's staff, they will also participate in lectures and press conferences with leaders of the national economy.

Yesterday, January 8, the selection process for the 4th Curso Estado de Jornalismo Econômico (State Course in Economic Journalism) began - promoted by Grupo Estado and São Paulo School of Economics (FGV/EESP). The program is free and offers 25 places for young journalists, who graduated in 2012 and 2013, and students attending the last semester of their undergraduate course. During three months, participants will attend full-time activities, lectures by EESP professors and participate in the group newsrooms. Monitored by Grupo Estado's staff, they will also participate in lectures and press conferences with leaders of the national economy. All the theoretical content of economics was defined jointly by Grupo Estado's editors and FGV professors, including courses in macroeconomics, economic policy, national and international financial system, capital markets and business valuation, in addition to financial and statistical mathematics.In previous editions, the course hosted personalities, such as the Minister of Finance, Guido Mantega, and the president of Petrobrás, Graça Foster, among others.Enrollment and selection processEnrollment must be made online by February 2, at the address www.estadao.com.br/focas. Candidates must submit their resume and write a letter stating their reasons for taking the course, and also the most important economic news coverage in 2013 in their opinion, explaining their choice. The process further includes multiple choice exams on economic knowledge, Portuguese and English.Up to 75 young people will be approved for the second phase of the selection, at the headquarters of Grupo Estado, when they will be tested for general knowledge and prepare an economic report. There will also be interviews with professionals of Grupo Estado.The result will be announced on February 23.The course will take place from March 10 to June 6.
