EESP professor analyzes last result of the Brazilian GDP

The professor of São Paulo School of Economics (FGV/EESP), Samy Dana, made an analysis of the result of the Brazilian GDP for the third quarter of 2013 in his column Caro Dinheiro in Folha de São Paulo newspaper.According to him, the low expectations, further coupled with the 0.5% decrease compared to the previous quarter's GDP, represent a particular concern since we've also had quite uninteresting results at the end of 2012. In 2013, the results are getting to be very shy, he says.Samy points out that credit supply to consumers reached a limit and that companies are now restricting loan concessions fearing defaults and higher interest rates to come. This year has already witnessed price increases and high interest rates are here to stay, he warns. The economist advises consumers to adjust the budget and avoid medium and long term debt. 2014 promises to be a very turbulent year for the consumer, and it'd better get ready for it, he concluded.
