Journal of Public Administration achieves another international excellence indicator
The Journal of Public Administration, published by Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE), achieved a Journal Impact Factor score of 1.5 in the latest ranking of international journals released by Clarivate (previously known as the Institute for Scientific Information).
Journal Impact Factor scores support the academic community by identifying reliable, high-quality international journals, which are selected by the Web of Science team. The Journal of Public Administration has been part of the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) since 2020.
The ranking was based exclusively on periodicals that meet 24 strict quality criteria. Of the analyzed journals, only 15% were included in the index.
Here are the Journal of Public Administration’s metrics in 2023:
- Journal Impact Factor: 1.5
- Journal Impact Factor without self-citations: 1.4
- Journal Citation Indicator: 0.47
- Immediacy Index: <0.1
- Cited half-life: 4.6 years
- Citing half-life: 9.3 years
Clarivate is a global leader in providing reliable information and analysis to accelerate the pace of innovation. The institution has been seen as an authority on citations and scientific evaluation for over half a century.
According to the Journal of Public Administration’s chief editor, Professor Alketa Peci, the new impact factor score reflects the publication’s international development strategy, which was first adopted in 2015, and it makes the journal stand out from its Brazilian peers. “The Journal of Public Administration is one of a handful of bilingual Brazilian journals. It is published in English and Portuguese, in order to attract new international audiences while retaining its domestic readership. This international expansion strategy has helped divulge scientific output in Brazil and the Ibero-American region as a whole among a larger audience, as well as attracting better quality contributions and fostering collaboration between domestic and international researchers, thereby strengthening research groups,” she says.
In addition to Web of Science, the Journal of Public Administration is part of a series of other international indexers. The publication has achieved other significant impact factor scores, including a Scopus H-Index score of 21, which has been growing steadily. The Journal of Public Administration currently ranks 11th in Google H, a ranking of Brazilian periodicals in various fields of knowledge.
