The survey Citizens vs Banks - Institutional Drivers of Financial Market Litigiousness in Brazil?, produced by Professor Bruno Salama and the lawyer Thiago Jabor Pinheiro, was the highlight of the most recent Pesquisa em Foco, a journalistic product that seeks to detail research conducted by professors from São Paulo Law School. The work aims to assess the high level of litigation existing between financial agents and the market. The main conclusion is that the phenomenon can partly be attributed to the Brazilian legal culture. The 1988 Constitution gave the judiciary an active agent role in the construction of public policies, which increases its influence and makes it subject to more demands, explains Bruno Salama. The same work was presented by Salama in the Law, Justice and Development Week 2013 - Toward a Science of Delivery in Development Conference organized by the World Bank on November 18th- 22nd in Washington DC, in the United States. Please click here and visit the publication Pesquisa em Foco (in Portuguese)
