FGV Projetos and OECD hold debate on 2012 PISA results

Experts from the OECD, FGV Projetos and leaders of public, private and academic sectors will come together to present and analyze the official results of PISA 2012 - Educational Systems Evaluation Program, developed and coordinated by the OECD.

Experts from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), FGV Projetos and leaders of public, private and academic sectors will come together on Friday, December 6th, to present and analyze the official results of PISA 2012 - Educational Systems Evaluation Program, developed and coordinated by the OECD.Applied since 2000, PISA is the leading quality global evaluation of the education sector, and governments use it as a tool to redefine and improve the educational policies of each country. The triennial report evaluates the 36 OECD member countries and 30 other nations, including Brazil.Global and Brazilian performances will be discussed from the newly released results, and a more complete analysis of the data that show developments in the country and indicate the need for improvements will be completed. The debate will be attended by Andreas Schleicher, vice director of education and politics special adviser to OECD's Secretary-General.The debate is open to the public and will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 am at FGV Projetos in São Paulo. In the last ranking, it occupied the 53th position overall, ahead of Argentina and Colombia, but behind Mexico, Uruguay and Chile.Between 2000 and 2009, the Brazilian education evolved 33 points in the ranking and achieved the third best evolution on average among the 65 participating nations.
