CPDOC attends south-south cooperation meeting in Africa

The coordinator of FGV?s School of Social Sciences (FGV/CPDOC) in São Paulo, Oliver Stuenkel, represented FGV at the event Emerging Powers and Global Cooperation: A Focus on IBSA and BRICS, held in November at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Besides scholars from emerging countries such as China, India and Brazil, diplomats from several countries also participated in the debates.The conference explored issues related to the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and the IBAS (India, Brazil and South Africa) - especially with respect to the impact of these groups on global governance nowadays and in the near future.During the event, Professor Oliver Stuenkel spoke about the future of South-South cooperation and the BRICS and IBAS groups. Such groups strengthen the role of emerging countries in International Relations, he analyzed.
