Designed after the already established GMF's Brussels Forum, the Atlantic Dialogs brought together around 300 leaders from public and private sectors of Atlantic and Asian countries for three days of open and informal discussions on various issues, such as inter-regional security, economics, migration and energy.

The think tank GMF, which held the meeting, was founded in the United States with resources donated by West Germany as compensation to the Marshall Plan - European Recovery Program conducted by the North-American country for the reconstruction of the allied countries of Europe in the years following the Second World War.
