Food pulls inflation in the last week of October, according to IBRE

The Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) of October 31st, 2013, presented a 0,55% change - 0.06 percentage points above the recorded rate of last week. With this result, the index calculated by the Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV/IBRE) accumulates a 4.20% increase in the year and 5.36% in the past 12 months.

In this calculation, six of the eight expenditure categories part of the index presented an increase in their change rates. The largest contribution came from the Food group (0.79% to 0.93%), pulled by the behavior of greens and vegetables, whose rate increased from -4.34% to 0.91%.

The groups Health and Personal Care, Miscellaneous Expenses, Communication, Housing, Education, Reading and Recreation also presented acceleration in their change rates, with an emphasis on medicines items in general, food for domestic animals, mobile phone tariffs, residential rents and music concerts.

The next calculation of the IPC-S, with data collected up to November 7th, will be disclosed on the 8th.
