FGV Law School Rio is accepting articles for the “Embedding Human Righs in Digital Design Conference”

The Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV Direito Rio), through the Center for Technology and Society (CTS) and the Diversity and Inclusion Program (PD&I), in partnership with the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at the University of Oxford, is accepting abstracts for the "Embedding Human Rights in Digital Design" Conference until January 15. The conference is scheduled for April 15, 2024, at the FGV headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.

The submitted texts should present critical and innovative perspectives, connecting Human Rights and new technologies, addressing potential risks and violations of Human Rights in the digital era, norms and principles ensuring the proper integration of Human Rights in governance processes, and methods of regulating new technologies.

Organized by Professor Richard Mackenzie-Gray Scott, a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Oxford, and FGV Direito Rio professors Yasmin Curzi and Luca Belli, the conference will feature Professor Lilian Edwards (Newcastle Law School at Newcastle University) as the Keynote Speaker.

Abstracts can be submitted in Portuguese, English, or Spanish. Researchers from various fields of knowledge are encouraged to submit, beyond Law, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, among others. The abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words, and the document submitted by the authors should also include a biography of no more than 50 words.
