The future of South America after the death of Hugo Chávez is the topic of CPDOC's seminar
FGV's Center of International Relations, based at the School of Social Sciences (FGV/CPDOC), and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (ISS) will hold on October 17 the lecture South America after Chavez, with ISS' analyst for Latin America, Antônio Sampaio.
Sampaio examines external policies and security strategies in the region, and monitors and analyzes trends of the transnational organized crime and insurgent groups. He is the author of articles published in magazines and websites in the United Kingdom (including ISS' academic magazine, Survival), an international commentator and he has worked as an editor on the international board of TV channel Globo News.
IISS is a world authority on global security and strategy, with its main office based in London. Founded in 1958, the institute is dedicated to the analysis and discussion of public policies to promote world peace and international relations. The institution is FGV's partner in the Council of Councils - an initiative of the Council of Foreign Relations, American institution that organizes and promotes the international debate among various Think Tanks in the world.
The event happens from 4 to 6 pm, on October 17, in room 1028 of FGV's headquarters, in Rio.
The lecture is open to the public and prior registration is not necessary to attend it.
