Fundação Getulio Vargas debuts at Frankfurt Book Fair

On October 9-13, FGV Press will attend the Frankfurt Book Fair - the biggest book business event in the world. This is the first time that Fundação Getulio Vargas' publisher will be at the event, which this year pays tribute to Brazil. We have stands with FGV books inside Brazil's exhibition hall in the fair, says the director of FGV Press and Library System, Professor Marieta de Moraes Ferreira. According to her, the publisher will represent FGV and the Country in two ways: one, in the section of the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) - which it is a member of -, and another, in the section of the Association of University Publishers (ABEU). In addition, the publisher's publications will be available in the official catalogue of the delegation of the Brazilian publishing houses. The focus of the Frankfurt Fair is not the public; it is not an event like the Bienal, in Brazil. It is a fair directed to booksellers, which brings new trends and possibilities to the book market, explains Marieta, who points out FGV Press' goal of establishing other types of partnerships and acquire rights of traditional academic publishers, such as Cambridge, Hachette, Éditions Dunod and EHESS.Marieta also highlights that the participation in the Frankfurt Fair will also be important for FGV's libraries. We're going to the event with the goal of getting to know and acquire software for digital books, which are revolutionizing the special business of libraries, she says, adding that these new technologies will be critical not only to the Library Systems, but for the creation of FGV's Digital Library. Our goal is to provide a significant collection of digital books, as early as next year, he reveals.Frankfurt's Trade Fair has been held every year since 1949.Please click here and learn more about FGV Press (in Portuguese). And learn about Frankfurt's Book Fair.
