The publication has the objective of contributing to the establishment of a national system of monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by companies and productive sectors in the country. From the Brazilian reality and four cases of MRV already in execution (Australia, California/USA, Europe and New Zealand), this study examines the requirements necessary for the establishment of a MRV system through the collection and management of detailed information about the emissions at the operational level of companies and organizations, facilitating the monitoring by industry and also by issuing agent. The research also points out that the government needs to coordinate and open to economic sectors covered by (mandatory or not) emission reduction agreements, and the importance of a more in-depth debate on the pricing of carbon in Brazil. To learn more about the study and download the first volume, in Portuguese, please click here. In September, GVces celebrated ten years of existence.
