FGV/EPGE lecture presents economic and political retrospective of Brazil

On September 3, FGV's Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (EPGE) held the lecture Brazil: has the future already passed?, with the School's former professor and current professor of Université de Cergy-Pontoise in France, Cristina Terra.Cristina has mapped out a political and economic retrospective of the 1980's until the present day, examining the period of high inflation rates until the PT government. She also said that the Lula government promoted fiscal expansion programs to deal with the crisis, and growth acceleration - which significantly reduced social inequality. Dilma's government, on the other hand, tried interventionist policies, and to hold inflation it used administered prices, making them artificially lower, she pointed out.At the end of the event - held at FGV's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro - the audience asked questions to the speaker on the subjects covered.
