FGV Projetos organized last week, on July 9, the Sustainable Metropolis Forum. The objective was to encourage debate on the challenges and opportunities of establishing a high level territorial governance for the metropolis, so that actions can be developed in a sustainable manner - thus contributing to the reduction of regional inequalities and for greater access to services and infrastructure. The forum's main debate was the elaboration of the Metropolitan Strategic Plan by the Undersecretary of Metropolitan and Regional Urbanism of the Secretary of Works at the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro. The director of FGV Projetos, Cesar Cunha Campos, the congresswoman Aspásia Camargo (in the photo) and the superintendent of the Secretary of Works of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Cesar Silva Costa, opened the discussions, so that FGV's researchers could present context material to each one of four panels carried out during the event. Experts, representatives of public bodies and private institutions such as IBM, Ericsson and Siemens, also presented their visions and discussed topics such as the smart cities and new centralities. The discussions on housing, infrastructure, transportation, sanitation, quality of life, governance and creative economy, were presented and discussed by professors of the main universities in Rio de Janeiro - FGV, UFRJ, UFF and PUC, in addition to managers of the project underway in the city. The Sustainable Metropolis Forum took place at FGV's headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil.
