100 years of journalism: editorial director of Folha de S.Paulo talks about changes in profession
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Folha de S. Paulo, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Department of Public Policy Analysis (FGV DAPP) has invited journalist Sérgio Dávila, the editorial director of this newspaper, which is one of Brazil’s most important media outlets, to have an online discussion about changes in the media market over the last century and expected changes in the coming years. The webinar, called “100 Years of Journalism and the Path Ahead,” will take place on March 26, from 2 pm to 4 pm, on FGV’s YouTube channel.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss how transformations to media outlets caused by new technologies and a culture of media convergence have affected newsroom routines, the content production process and journalists’ profiles.
The influence of these changes on the way readers relate to and interact with news will also be discussed. In addition to Folha de S. Paulo’s editorial director, Sérgio Dávila, the participants will be FGV DAPP’s director, Marco Ruediger; and FGV DAPP’s MBA coordinator, Thomas Traumann. The moderator will be FGV DAPP researcher Lara Stahlberg.
