2018 retrospective: Events pave the way for debates between important social players

There was also considerable debate about the Federal Intervention in Rio de Janeiro, with the participation of the federal intervenor, General Walter de Souza Braga Netto. The future Minister of Justice and former federal judge Sérgio Moro was a guest in the National Symposium on Combating Corruption.

In a decisive year that decided the economic, political and social direction of the country, FGV assumed a leading role in the public debate, paving the way for multiple social players to demonstrate their ideas on the most diverse subjects. Check out below the major events held by FGV from September to December.

Two years after the Rio Olympic Games and in a post-World Cup atmosphere, FGV held an important debate on the Sports Incentive Act on September 20. Another relevant agenda in the month was the appreciation of life and suicide prevention, in line with the Yellow September national campaign.

FGV set the stage for important national debates. On August 20 and 21, the then candidates to the State Government of Rio de Janeiro were welcomed to discuss proposals on education. The year of 2018 also saw the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the 1988 Constitution. Events in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro discussed democracy, institutions and the Brazilian reality, in addition to the challenges of maintaining the social and political pact.

FGV also paid tribute to the current Chief Justice of the Federal Supreme Court, Dias Toffoli, the commander of the Brazilian Navy, Admiral Eduardo Bacellar Leal Ferreira, and the commander of the Brazilian Army, General Eduardo Villas Bôas.
