Brazil 2025: technology, pandemic and future to be debated

While the COVID-19 pandemic has led governments to impose lockdown measures to fight the disease, it has also spurred people to look for solutions to help us live and work in these new conditions. To discuss changes in routines, technological impacts and the post-pandemic future, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV IBRE) will hold a webinar on YouTube called “Brazil 2025 – Future Acceleration Due to COVID-19,” on June 4, between 6 pm and 8 pm. The speaker will be Rafael Coimbra, a professor on FGV’s Digital Marketing and Business Intelligence MBA program. The moderator will be Raíra Vieira, a researcher in the field of innovation and artificial intelligence at FGV IBRE.

“I will present an overview of changes in business models, what is happening in the world and the impacts on companies and workers in Brazil. The core element of my talk will be how technology is driving digital transformation,” Coimbra says.

During the webinar, the specialist will discuss how the world is dealing with telecommuting, whether this will happen in Brazil and what the impacts will be, as well as topics such as telemedicine. He will address technology-related changes from three perspectives: short term (fashions), medium term (trends) and long term (disruption). In other words, he will identify which changes we are experiencing now are temporary, which ones will continue and which ones will transform reality. Coimbra will also talk about concepts such as digital maturity and analyze Brazil’s role in this process, discussing whether Brazilian workers and companies are ready for this future, which is being accelerated by the pandemic.
